The NDPS squad of the Nagpur Crime Branch seized 8 kg of ganja worth ₹2.4 lakh and apprehended one accused in a raid conducted in the Bhilgaon area under the jurisdiction of Kalamna Police Station on March 6, 2025. The operation was carried out between 7 AM and 9 AM near Umar Bhai’s plastic factory based on intelligence inputs.
The accused was identified as Mohammed Mazhar alias Bilal Abdul Jabbar (29), a resident of Plot No. 7, Bhilgaon, Nagpur. During interrogation, he revealed that the contraband was procured from two associates — Mohammed Zahid Ansari and Arslam Mansoor Khan — both residents of Yashodhara Nagar Chowk, Nagpur. The two suspects are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace them.
The seized items include 8 kg of ganja, one mobile phone, and one moped, with a total valuation of ₹2.4 lakh. The police have registered a case under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(2)(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act at Kalamna Police Station.
Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the absconding accused and are investigating further to unearth the drug supply network. The police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking to help curb narcotics-related crimes in the city.
