On Women’s Day, Aanchal Sood Goyal (I.A.S), Additional Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), emphasized the significance of public involvement in governance and the growing role of women in leadership.
The Power of Public Participation
Goyal believes that sustainable progress depends on active citizen engagement. “Governments change, officials are transferred, but if people develop good habits, progress continues,” she stated. She urged citizens to take responsibility for civic issues like cleanliness, road safety, and environmental conservation to ensure long-term improvements.
Connecting with Citizens forEffective Governance
Despite her demanding role, Goyal dedicates two days a week to field visits, directly interacting with citizens. “Policies made in offices can be ineffective if they don’t reflect real challenges. Engaging with people firsthand builds trust and leads to better governance,” she said.
Balancing Work, Life, and Personal Well-being
Addressing the struggles of women in leadership, she acknowledged the sacrifices involved. “Success comes with trade-offs. I’ve missed family events due to duty, but perseverance leads to progress,” she shared. She also stressed the importance of self-care, dedicating an hour daily for herself to maintain clarity and efficiency.
Women’s Growing Representation
Goyal noted the increasing presence of women in politics, administration, and corporate sectors. “Progress takes time, but the shift is happening. Society is becoming more supportive of women’s roles,” she remarked.
