A bizarre incident unfolded at Asirgarh Fort in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur on Friday night, as hundreds of villagers gathered at the historic site, believing that Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb had buried hidden treasure beneath it.
A viral video circulating on social media shows villagers frantically digging the soil, armed with digging tools, metal detectors, and flashlights. The large crowd, consisting of men, women, and elderly people, was seen desperately searching for gold and silver, allegedly looted from the Marathas by the Mughals.

Film ‘Chhaava’ Sparks Treasure Hunt
The frenzy was reportedly triggered by the recently released Vicky Kaushal-starrer ‘Chhaava’, which depicts the Mughals looting Maratha wealth and hiding it beneath Asirgarh Fort. Believing the storyline to be historically accurate, the villagers launched an impromptu treasure hunt, hoping to unearth the Maratha Empire’s lost riches.
