In a major crackdown on traffic violations, the Nagpur City Traffic Police took action against 672 offenders in a single day on March 12, marking the highest enforcement in the past three years. The special drive focused on penalizing motorists for wrong-side driving and signal jumping across various traffic zones in the city.
During the operation, 384 motorists were fined for driving on the wrong side, with the highest violations reported in Cotton Market (57), Sonegaon (47), and MIDC (46). Additionally, 288 motorists were penalized for jumping traffic signals, with the most cases recorded in Sitabuldi (79), Indora (72), and Sonegaon (34).
The traffic police have assured that such enforcement drives will continue to curb reckless driving and enhance road safety. Authorities have urged motorists to follow traffic rules to avoid penalties and contribute to smoother traffic flow in the city.
To encourage public participation, citizens can report traffic violations through the “Traffic Mitra” WhatsApp helpline at 8976897698. Complaints should include photos, along with details of time and location, to enable quick action against offenders.
The Nagpur Traffic Police have appealed to residents to follow traffic regulations and support efforts in maintaining safe and orderly road conditions across the city.
