The Shri Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Temple in Koradi will soon have a designated bus stop nearby, aiming to improve public transport accessibility for devotees and tourists. Documents from the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) confirm that the project, funded under the District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC) scheme, has an estimated cost of ₹1.90 crore and is expected to be completed within 10 months.
Currently, visitors rely on auto-rickshaws, private vehicles, and limited bus services. The nearest bus stop is 2.5 kilometers away, requiring devotees to walk or hire transport to reach the temple. The new stop, situated much closer, will reduce this inconvenience.
The construction will include reinforced concrete structures, steel framework for shelter, and passenger waiting areas. The facility will accommodate at least 5 buses at a time, helping manage traffic flow. Planned amenities include seating arrangements, a covered waiting area, lighting, digital timetable displays, drinking water stations, and accessible features for differently-abled passengers.
While the project aims to ease travel for devotees, some residents question whether the funds could have been better utilized for improving overall public transport infrastructure in Nagpur. The city’s bus services already struggle with delays, poor connectivity, and inadequate maintenance. Past projects have faced neglect, raising concerns about the long-term upkeep of the new facility.
Officials insist that the bus stop is part of broader efforts to enhance transport connectivity, but its true impact will only be evident once operational. For now, it remains to be seen whether it will effectively serve commuters or face the same challenges as previous projects.
