For the first time, the city is set to host a unique film festival dedicated to health awareness. The Orange City Aarogya Film Festival, a two-day event starting Saturday, will use the power of cinema to highlight important health issues. Organized by the Orange City Cultural Foundation, the festival is a collaborative effort with PM Shah Foundation (Pune), Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Nagpur University, Saptak, and Cine-Montage.
The Orange City Aarogya Film Festival will be inaugurated on Saturday at 12:30 PM at Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Auditorium, Persistent Systems, Gayatri Nagar. Padma Shri Dr. Prakash Amte and Chetan Gandhi, Director of PM Shah Foundation, Pune, will grace the occasion. Dr. Chandrashekhar Meshram, President of the Orange City Cultural Foundation, highlighted that the festival aims to educate people about health issues and preventive measures through cinema.
Dr. Meshram added that this will be the first-ever health-themed film festival in central India. The event will showcase 41 acclaimed films between 1 PM and 7:30 PM, addressing critical health and social issues such as Alzheimer’s, autism, mental health, organ donation, drug addiction, obesity, alcoholism, blindness, women’s health, sexual education, cancer, snakebite awareness, sanitation, and environmental concerns. Most films, primarily in Hindi and Marathi, have been sourced with the support of PM Shah Foundation, Pune.
Dr. Meshram shared that a short film competition will be launched soon to encourage young filmmakers to focus on health topics.
