Nagpur: The number of arrests in connection with the Mahal riots, which erupted on March 17 in Nagpur, has climbed to 135. Police have also detained around a dozen juveniles for their alleged involvement in the violence and attacks on law enforcement personnel.
According to Nagpur Police, the investigation is progressing, and more suspects have been identified. “A detailed probe is underway, and the number of arrests is expected to rise further,” officials stated.
Multiple units, including Ganeshpeth Police, the Cyber Cell, Crime Branch, and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), are actively investigating various cases linked to the Mahal riots.
Amid the crackdown, concerns have been raised over wrongful detentions. Maharashtra State Minority Commission Chairman Pyare Ziya Khan has taken note of the issue and directed the police to release any innocent individuals who may have been apprehended.
With authorities intensifying their efforts, the investigation continues as police work towards restoring order and ensuring justice in the wake of the Mahal riots.
