A report has highlighted how dummy schools in Nagpur are operating in violation of CBSE rules. According to a Nagpur-based news portal, despite regulations requiring students to attend regular classes for Class 12 board exams, some coaching institutes have partnered with these schools to bypass the system.
An investigation has found that coaching institutes like Brilliant Academy and Success Tutorials are linked to dummy schools. These schools enroll students only on paper, allowing them to skip classes and focus entirely on JEE and NEET coaching.
Some of the schools involved in this practice (as per the report by a Nagpur-based news portal) include:
■ Kendriya Vidyalaya
■ St. Xavier’s School
■ Delhi Public School (Lava)
■ Dinanath School
■ Sancheti School
■ Centre Point School (all three branches)
■ School of Scholars (four branches)
■ St. Paul’s School
This system has turned education into a business model where middlemen connect coaching institutes with dummy schools, ensuring students can bypass attendance, internal exams, and practicals. The racket operates on commissions and is estimated to be a multi-crore industry.
Despite CBSE’s warnings that students who do not attend school regularly may be barred from board exams, this malpractice continues. Experts warn that such setups undermine education and put students’ futures at risk. Authorities are being urged to take strict action to curb this illegal arrangement and restore the integrity of formal schooling.
