Dass jeweller store owner in Shankar Nagar has fallen victim to a major fraud, with a businessman allegedly purchasing gold ornaments worth ₹1.06 crore using fraudulent transactions. The Ambazari police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complainant, Avish Ashok Vastani (36), a resident of Happy Rise, Shivaji Nagar, owns Dass Jewellers on North Ambazari Road. According to the police, the accused, identified as Rahul Nareshchandra Khabiya (Jain), a tenant in Nalawade Layout near Padole Hospital, initially gained Vastani’s trust by buying gold jewelry in small amounts and making cash payments.
Between October 13, 2024, and March 12, 2025, Khabiya significantly increased his purchases, acquiring a large quantity of gold ornaments. While he made partial payments online, he also issued a cheque that later bounced. When Vastani confronted him, the accused allegedly delayed payments with various excuses and even issued threats.
Following an investigation into the complaint, Pratap Nagar police have booked Khabiya under Sections 316(2), 318(4), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further inquiries are ongoing.
