Gittikhadan Police have registered a case against five individuals for allegedly duping an Umred resident of ₹4.1 lakh under the pretext of securing admission at Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management.
According to the complaint, Duryodhan Bhajankar (47), a resident of Umred, was introduced to Akash Dhepe (35), who assured him that he could facilitate his son’s admission to Ramdeobaba College for ₹4 lakh. Trusting Dhepe, Bhajankar made the payment, only to later discover that the receipt lacked the official college stamp. Despite waiting for over 20 days, his son’s admission did not materialize.
When Bhajankar confronted Dhepe, the accused and his associates—Ramal Kanojiya (40), Kshitij Navghare (35), Akshay Ghogale (35), and an unidentified man (40)—refused to return the money.
Following Bhajankar’s complaint, Gittikhadan Police have booked the accused under sections 318(4), 335, 336(2), 336(3), 340(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to identify the unknown suspect.
