Mumbai: Sara Tendulkar, daughter of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, has taken a significant step into the esports arena by becoming the owner of the Mumbai franchise in the second season of the Global e-Cricket Premier League (GEPL).
GEPL, recognized as the world’s largest e-cricket and entertainment league, is played on the popular game Real Cricket, which has amassed over 300 million lifetime downloads. The league has experienced rapid growth, with player registrations surging from 200,000 in the first season to 910,000 in the ongoing edition. Boasting a multiplatform reach exceeding 70 million and more than 2.4 million minutes of streamed content on JioCinema and Sports18, GEPL has cemented its position as a frontrunner in cricket esports.
Sara’s entry into the GEPL ecosystem aligns with the league’s vision of revolutionizing competitive gaming. She joins a dynamic group of entrepreneurs from emerging India, further enhancing the digital cricket experience for fans.
Meanwhile, her brother Arjun Tendulkar continues to make strides in traditional cricket as part of the Mumbai Indians squad for IPL 2025. Arjun has played five matches in the IPL and represents Goa in domestic cricket.
Their father, Sachin Tendulkar, remains deeply connected to the sport, serving as the icon for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Recently, he played a pivotal role in leading the Indian Masters to victory in the International Masters League 2025, where they defeated West Indies by six wickets in the final.
With Sara’s foray into esports ownership, the Tendulkar family continues to leave an indelible mark across multiple formats of cricket.
