Uber is launching Uber for Teens in India this month, allowing teenagers to book rides with parental or guardian supervision, addressing concerns about teen safety when parents can’t be present.
Uber for Teens is a reliable option for parents, offering real-time tracking and visibility of their child’s whereabouts. It’s designed for kids aged 13 to 17.
Uber for Teens in India: What It Offers for Parents
After launching in the US and parts of Europe, Uber is bringing its Teens service to India this year, starting in 37 cities, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. This feature allows parents to track their child’s rides and manage safety. But how does it work, and what’s needed to sign up?
Uber says you can schedule a ride for the teens by following these steps:
• Parent/guardian should invite the kid to the Uber app using their account
• The teen needs to create an account and pair it with their parent’s account on Uber
• Now the kid has the right to reserve rides on Uber
• Parents also can track their location and get real-time alerts
• The rides can be booked by the parents for their teens as well
Teen riders aged 13-17 can have other teens with parental consent. They must sit in the back seat and wear seat belts throughout the ride. Once they turn 18, their account will automatically switch to a standard Uber profile.
