The proposal for doubling the railway track between Gondia and Ballarshah has been approved by the Government of India. The 240 km lane will be laid by investing Rs 4,819 crore. The government on Friday approved four multitracking major projects, including the Gondia-Ballarshah track, worth Rs 18,658 crore. The projects will increase the railway track network by 1,247 km, and will cover 15 districts in three states – Maharashtra, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.
A new track laying of 615 km in Chhattisgarh worth Rs 8,741 crore, and 277 km worth Rs 3,917 crore in Odisha will save Rs 2,520 crore in logistics compared to road traffic, Railway Minister Ashvini Vaishnav said. The new railway tracks will also help in increasing tourism in the regions.
