A case has been registered against multiple employees of Hexaware Technologies Limited, located in MIHAN, for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent refund scam that led to a loss of over Rs 4.83 crore to the company.
The complaint was filed by Arvind Vinod Malgund (41), General Manager at Hexaware and a resident of Jayanti Nagari, Besa-Pipla Road. The scam came to light during a routine audit by the company’s quality team, which flagged irregularities in the refund process.
As per company policy, refunds are processed only after goods returned by customers are verified. However, the investigation revealed that, between December 2023 and February 2025, the accused employees bypassed this protocol by creating fake customer accounts and issuing refunds without receiving any product returns.
The accused have been identified as:
- Jayant Sameer Das (NIT Colony, Nara Road, Jaripatka)
- Aditya Vasant Dongre (Model Mill Chowk, Ganeshpeth)
- Piyush Yogesh Sodari (Bhagyashree Layout, Trimurti Nagar)
- Mukesh Kumar (Baraipura, Maskasath)
- Pawan Prahlad Chachane (Snehdeep Colony)
- Ajikya Pradeep Meshram (Gopal Nagar, Third Bus Stop)
- Surendra Hariram Agase (Mahatma Phule Nagar, Somalwada)
According to police sources, the employees exploited their access to the internal system to generate false refund transactions and embezzled a total of Rs 4,83,30,168. The group reportedly submitted fake entries showing that customers had returned goods, when in fact no such returns occurred.
A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – 316(4), 318(4), 344, and 3(5) – and under Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act
