A 21-year-old man has been apprehended by Lakadganj police for allegedly robbing a bank officer of gold jewellery worth ₹2.35 lakh by blackmailing him over a visit to a red-light area. The accused, Aadesh Pradeep Samundre, reportedly acted out of revenge after the officer rejected his loan application.
The accused, a resident of Thakkar Gram in Panchpaoli and a seller of foreign dog breeds, intercepted the victim near Marwadi Square on March 15. According to police, Samundre had noticed the officer leaving the Ganga Jamuna red-light area and used the opportunity to intimidate and extort him.
He allegedly threatened to publicly defame the officer for his visit to the area and forcibly snatched his gold chain and bracelet valued at ₹2.35 lakh. The officer, a Kapil Nagar resident, filed a delayed complaint at Lakadganj police station on Monday, reportedly shaken by the nature of the threat.
Police arrested Samundre and booked him under charges of robbery and criminal intimidation. An investigation is underway.
