A police personnel allegedly manhandled and verbally abused a man who questioned him for not wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler on Mankapur-Gorewada Road near Jaripatka on Wednesday, April 9. The incident, which was captured on video, has since gone viral on social media, sparking public outrage and demands for strict action.
The accused police personnel has been identified as Anand Singh. According to the complainant, the confrontation began when he asked Singh to follow traffic rules and wear a helmet. Instead of acknowledging the concern, Singh allegedly asked the man to stop his vehicle, after which he verbally abused and physically manhandled him.
In the video, Singh can be seen accusing the rider of abusing him. However, the footage clearly captures the police personnel himself using abusive language during the altercation.
Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged at Jaripatka Police Station. In response to the growing criticism, the Traffic Police Department has issued a challan to Singh for riding without a helmet.
Authorities later clarified that Singh was returning from a dental appointment due to a toothache when the incident occurred. Despite the explanation, citizens have demanded disciplinary action against the police personnel, condemning the misuse of power and lack of accountability.
