Three employees, including the Executive Engineer of the Rural Water Supply department of Chandrapur Zilla Parishad were arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 4.20 lakhs. On Thursday, the Anti-Corruption Bureau laid a trap and held them while accepting the bribe for clearing a pending bill of Rs 43 lakh of ten villages.
Executive Engineer Harsh Bohre demanded Rs 4 lakh for bills of ten out of 23 villages in Rajura tehsil of the Chandrapur district. A senior assistant, Sushil Maroti Gundawar, added Rs 20,000 for him and demanded a bribe of Rs 4.20 lakh for approval of the bills. A complaint was lodged with the ACB by a resident of Jivati village. Gundawar accepted Rs 4.20 lakh and, after withdrawing Rs 20,000, handed over Rs 4 lakh to Matin Sheikh to hand over to Bohre.
