Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday announced that the Indian Railways will launch the “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Glorious Maratha Tour” starting in July. The tour will cover key sites linked to the Maratha empire as well as ancient pilgrimage destinations across the state.
Speaking at a press conference, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the 10-day curated tour, operated by the Bharat Gaurav train, will begin on July 16. The tour aims to showcase the glorious history and rich heritage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, along with Maharashtra’s cultural and pilgrimage destinations. Starting from Delhi, the train will cover key locations including Pune, Raigad, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
“This initiative is not just a journey. It’s a tribute to the Maharashtrian culture and the valour and timeless legacy of Maratha empire,” he said.
According to the Railways, the “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj & the Glorious Maratha Tour” train will depart from Delhi and cover prominent historical and religious sites such as Raigad Fort, Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga, Shivneri Fort (Pune), Shirdi, Trimbakeshwar, Ellora Caves, and Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Operated by IRCTC under the Ministry of Railways, the tour offers boarding and deboarding options at several stations, including New Delhi, Delhi Cantt, Gurgaon, Rewari, Phulera, Ajmer, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Vasai Road, and Kalyan.
