New Delhi: All flight operations from Terminal 2 (T2) of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport will be shifted to Terminal 1 (T1) starting April 15, 2025, as announced by the Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL). The move comes in light of major maintenance and runway upgradation work that is expected to continue until July 2025.
The infrastructure overhaul is aimed at improving runway efficiency and enhancing overall passenger experience. Airlines have begun issuing advisories, urging passengers to check updated schedules to avoid inconvenience, as potential delays and rescheduling are anticipated during the transition period.
Airlines Issue Travel Advisories
Leading carriers, including IndiGo, Air India, and Akasa Air, confirmed the terminal shift for their Delhi operations. All flights previously scheduled to depart from Terminal 2 will now operate from Terminal 1 until further notice.
In its advisory, IndiGo encouraged passengers to verify their terminal and flight status on its official website before heading to the airport. “There may be changes to flight schedules owing to the ongoing maintenance work,” the airline said.
Air India also released a statement on the runway upgrade, highlighting that the project is expected to continue till July 2025. “While we will make every effort to minimise inconvenience, there could be occasions when your flight schedules get affected,” the airline noted in a post on X (formerly Twitter), adding that passengers should check live updates at airindia.com before travelling.
Akasa Air, in an earlier update on April 7, informed passengers that all its Delhi flights will operate from Terminal 1D starting April 15. The airline advised passengers to allow extra time for travel and check-in processes.
“Our check-in counters will close 60 minutes before departure and boarding gates will close 25 minutes before departure. To save time, passengers are encouraged to check-in online at akasaair.com or through our mobile app,” the airline said in its statement.
Passengers are advised to stay updated via their respective airline portals and allow additional travel time to the airport to ensure smooth transit amid the terminal shift.
