In a proud moment for the Nagpur City Police, 89 police personnel were officially promoted to higher ranks in a special ceremony held on April 16 at Police Bhavan, Civil Lines. The event was presided over by Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, who conferred the new ranks in the presence of the officers’ families.
The promotions included nine Head Constables who were elevated to the rank of Assistant Police Sub-Inspectors (ASI), while 80 Police Naiks were promoted to Head Constables. Among the promoted personnel, 25 were women, marking a significant step toward gender representation within the force.
These promotions, announced on April 8, are not just routine administrative decisions but a recognition of the officers’ years of dedicated service, discipline, and commitment. Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Singal said that promotions bring with them increased responsibilities, especially in the current era of evolving challenges in policing.
He urged the newly promoted personnel to focus on the timely resolution of pending cases, quick action on public complaints, and proactive crime prevention. Emphasizing the need for modern, technology-driven policing, he highlighted the importance of strong investigative skills, effective use of digital tools, intelligence gathering, and proactive measures to curb gang-related activities.
“Every complaint must be handled with urgency and sensitivity. Officers must ensure thorough investigations, collect solid evidence, and present it effectively in court,” said Commissioner Singal.
He also underlined the critical role of police personnel in maintaining law and order, managing police stations, controlling crime, and addressing public grievances — all while working with limited resources. The Commissioner stressed that investigation, administration, and law enforcement are the three pillars of policing, and field officers play a central role in each.
The presence of families at the event added an emotional and celebratory touch. Many expressed their pride and happiness, calling the opportunity to see their loved ones honoured by the Police Commissioner a truly memorable experience.
This round of promotions reflects not only career advancement but also the department’s trust in its personnel to handle greater responsibilities. As they step into their new roles, the officers are expected to serve with renewed dedication and play a crucial part in maintaining safety and justice across the city of Nagpur.
