Residents of Dharampeth were once again left disturbed as a group of unruly youths created chaos in the early hours of Thursday, highlighting the growing concerns over Nagpur’s increasingly disruptive nightlife.
The incident occurred between 3:30 AM and 4:00 AM in Lane No. 4, where a group of young boys—believed to be from affluent backgrounds—were seen honking loudly, driving recklessly, and smoking on the streets. Several among them had taken off their shirts and were shouting, causing panic among the residents and disturbing the peace of the neighborhood.
A local resident who shared a video of the incident said, “Such disturbances have become routine here. Reckless driving, honking, and wrong-side parking are now everyday issues. But what happened last night was not just disturbing, it was frightening. The authorities must intervene before the situation gets worse.”
Dharampeth, a once-peaceful locality, has been grappling with frequent incidents of nuisance, largely attributed to the rising number of nightclubs and late-night activity in the vicinity. In a previous incident, a minor parking dispute in the same area escalated into violence, with car windows being shattered. Despite these recurring disturbances, there has been no consistent police presence in the area, leaving residents frustrated and feeling unsafe.
Locals are now urging the Nagpur Police to increase patrolling and take strict action against those indulging in such behavior to restore order in the area.
