Nagpur: Following public outrage over a viral video showing a group of youths creating late-night disturbances in the Dharampeth area, Nagpur Police have swiftly identified the individuals involved and registered a case under the Bombay Police (BP) Act at Sitabuldi Police Station.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, between 3:30 AM and 4:00 AM, on Lane No. 4, Dharampeth. Residents were jolted awake by loud honking, reckless driving, and public nuisance caused by a group of young boys—many of whom had removed their shirts and were smoking on the street. The group is believed to be from well-to-do families.
Local resident Dipak Thakre recorded the incident and shared the footage online. “Such behavior is becoming increasingly common in our area, but last night’s incident was especially disturbing. This kind of reckless conduct is threatening the peace and safety of our neighborhood,” Thakre stated.
Residents have raised repeated concerns over the growing nightlife menace in Dharampeth, particularly with the presence of multiple nightclubs in the vicinity. In a previous incident, a parking dispute escalated into violence, with car windows smashed and no immediate police response.
Taking serious note of the latest video, Sitabuldi Police promptly traced the youths and initiated legal action. Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway and more charges could be added based on the findings.
Nagpur Police have assured citizens that additional patrolling will be undertaken in residential areas like Dharampeth during late-night hours to prevent such incidents and maintain public order.
