A tea vendor’s father sustained serious injuries after he was stabbed by a local youth who had come to demand free tea at a stall in Yashodhara Nagar on Wednesday night, April 17.
The incident took place around 8:00 pm at Santosh Nagar Chowk when the accused, Syed Irshad alias Guddu Syed Aziz (26), arrived at the tea stall run by complainant Nisar Khan (51). Irshad, who had an old dispute with Khan’s son, confronted him at the shop along with two unidentified accomplices.
The situation escalated when Irshad insisted on being served tea without paying and got into a heated argument. In a sudden act of violence, he pulled out a knife and attacked Nisar Khan — injuring him on his thigh and arm.
Khan was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Following a complaint, Yashodhara Nagar Police registered a case under Sections 109(1), 352, 351(2), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act. Syed Irshad has been apprehended, and efforts are on to trace his accomplices.
