In response to a deadly terrorist attack at a prominent tourist spot in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district that left 26 people dead — including two foreigners and two locals — the local police have set up an emergency help desk and dedicated WhatsApp line to assist tourists.
According to a post by Anantnag Police on X, the 24/7 Emergency Help Desk for Tourists has been activated at the Police Control Room in Anantnag to provide immediate assistance and information to visitors in the region.

The attack occurred around 3 PM on Tuesday as US Vice President J.D. Vance was visiting India, intensifying global concerns over security in the region. It is being considered one of the deadliest strikes on civilians in recent years.
Businessman from Karnataka Among Victims
Among the deceased was a businessman from Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, identified as Manjunath Rao, who was shot dead in Pahalgam. The news has drawn strong reactions from political leaders.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his outrage and grief in a post on X:
“I strongly condemn the heinous terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, J&K. Kannadigas are among the victims of this shocking incident. Upon receiving the news, I convened an emergency meeting and reviewed the situation with the Chief Secretary and senior police officials.”
