Nagpur, April 22: A tragic road accident in the Beltarodi area of Nagpur claimed the life of a 42-year-old man and left another critically injured after their vehicle collided with a stationary water tanker that had allegedly been left on the roadside without any cautionary signs.
The incident took place on Monday between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM near Sing Dhaba, ahead of the Panjra Toll Naka, under Beltarodi Police Station limits.
The deceased, identified as Pramod Mansaram Nandeshwar, a resident of Satinagar in Pardi, was behind the wheel of an Eicher vehicle (MH 31 AP 0969). Accompanying him was Pramod Savarkar from Sadbhavna Nagar, Hasanbagh. The two were en route to an unspecified location when their vehicle crashed into a water tanker (MH 04 EB 2287) parked alongside the road.
According to preliminary reports, the tanker had been parked carelessly while watering plants along the roadside and lacked proper safety markers or warning indicators, which may have contributed to the collision.
The impact of the crash left both men seriously injured. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Nandeshwar succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Savarkar continues to receive medical attention.
Following a complaint lodged by Sagar Prakash Chaudhary (28), a resident of Jai Shriram Nagar, Khareebi, Beltarodi police have registered a case against the tanker driver under Sections 125(a) and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
