Taking strong administrative action in response to a recent surge in serious crimes, Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal has disbanded the investigation teams at Ambazari and Kapilnagar Police Stations. The move is aimed at strengthening law enforcement and restoring public confidence in the affected areas.
The decision comes after a murder incident reported in the Kapilnagar police limits on April 19, 2025, which occurred in a public space. Concerned over the handling and investigation of the case, Dr. Singal ordered the immediate disbandment of the current investigation team. A new team comprising competent, dedicated, and honest officers will now take charge, with a clear mandate to tackle crime more effectively.
Similar action was initiated at Ambazari Police Station, where multiple incidents—such as the murder at Pandhrabodi on March 16 and shooting near Nimbus Café on April 15—raised serious questions about law enforcement effectiveness. In response, the investigation unit at the station was dissolved and replaced with a new team expected to deliver visible and result-oriented policing.
Commissioner Dr. Singal reiterated that public safety remains the topmost priority and that underperforming units will not be tolerated. He also confirmed that performance reviews of all city police stations are ongoing, and wherever necessary, timely and strict administrative changes will be implemented.
The newly appointed officers at both police stations will receive jurisdiction-specific briefings, and will be tasked with enforcing strategic, high-impact measures to ensure law and order. A compliance report on the restructuring has been sought on an urgent basis.
This decisive overhaul reflects Commissioner Singal’s zero-tolerance approach to crime and commitment to proactive policing in Nagpur city.
