In a city-wide crackdown to rein in criminal activity, the Nagpur Police conducted a 48-hour special combing operation, during which 305 suspects, including hardened criminals, were checked across all 33 police stations. The operation was carried out from midnight of April 22 to 5 am on April 24, under the direct orders of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal.

The intensive drive aimed at strengthening preventive policing and included checks on externed criminals (103), MCOCA accused (18), history-sheeters (18), and those involved in serious bodily offences (25). Action was also taken against individuals linked to liquor raids, MPDA cases, and illegal firearm possession.
Detection branch (DB) officers, acting under the supervision of Deputy Commissioners of Police from Zones 1 to 5, conducted surprise checks at the residences of accused persons. Suspects found at home were immediately subjected to legal action, while inquiries were made about the whereabouts of absconding individuals.

Several criminals were found to be engaged in low-profile occupations like street vending, painting, or working in other districts. Some were pursuing education or undergoing medical treatment.
Key Highlights of the Operation:
• Wadi Police arrested two serious offenders, Rishabh Gawai (27) and Shyam Atram (23) from Nirmal Nagar.
• A released MCOCA accused, Mehfizul Kabir, was checked under Tehsil Police limits; he now runs a paan kiosk.
• A liquor-related offence was recorded under Tehsil jurisdiction.
• Paradi Police traced Sabir alias Bunty Sheikh, a wanted criminal in a Kalamna case.
• At Mankapur, police checked Sheikh Salam, a cooler mechanic with a criminal record.
• Beltarodi Police located history-sheeter Ram Swaroop Patel, working as a painter in Amravati, through a WhatsApp video call.
DCP Mahak Swami personally inspected and took action against Mohammad Shakeel (under MPDA) and Abhay, recently released from jail after a murder conviction.
All accused were verified for updated records in the SIMBA database, and preventive measures were taken where necessary. In many cases, detailed forms were filled out to keep track of high-risk individuals.
The drive also involved checking juveniles in conflict with the law, some of whom were engaged in petty trades. One suspect from Sakardara was found suffering from paralysis.
This strategic operation emphasizes Nagpur Police’s zero-tolerance approach towards crime. With physical checks, digital tracking, and strict follow-ups, the force is aiming for disciplined and result-oriented enforcement.
