Following the deadly terrorist attack on Hindu pilgrims in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, Nagpur Police have ramped up security across the city. The action follows high-level alerts issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and national security agencies to all major cities.
Security arrangements have been strengthened at key locations including the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Mahal, Hedgewar Bhavan in Reshimbagh, Deekshabhoomi, and Nagpur Railway Station. In a significant move to prevent communal unrest, Nagpur Police have also engaged religious leaders to support peace-building efforts.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Mahak Swami is leading the initiative in sensitive zones such as Ganeshpeth, which witnessed communal clashes earlier this year. Muslim religious leaders have openly condemned the Pahalgam attack and extended full support to the police in promoting interfaith unity.
“Our Muslim brethren have condemned the terrorist attack and are working closely with us to ensure peace in the city,” DCP Swami stated. “They are urging citizens not to fall into the trap of communal division and instead stand united against terrorism.”
