Young minds across Nagpur will have an opportunity to express their ideas and engage with Sikh teachings through an essay competition organised by the Sikh Welfare Forum, in collaboration with the city’s Gurudwara Prabandhak Committees. The competition is scheduled to take place on May 4, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, at various Gurudwaras across Nagpur.
Open to students of all religions, the competition invites entries in Punjabi, Hindi, or English. It is divided into three age categories: 8–11 years, 12–14 years, and 15–18 years, with each group assigned topics reflecting Sikh history, teachings, and values.
Younger participants will write about their favourite stories from the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, their experiences at the Gurudwara, or the importance of Langar. Students aged 12 to 14 years will focus on the Guru Granth Sahib and the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Older participants, aged 15 to 18 years, will address topics such as the relevance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message of ‘One God’ in the modern world, the Khalsa Panth, and broader aspects of Sikhism.
Prizes will be awarded to the top winners in each category, with first, second, and third places, along with consolation prizes. Participation is free of cost.
