The first edition of the Wild Gorewada Summer Camp 2025 witnessed enthusiastic participation from school children aged 8 to 15 years, as they immersed themselves in wildlife education and biodiversity conservation at the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo.
The three-day camp, held at the zoo premises, was designed to raise awareness about wildlife conservation through a mix of fun and educational activities. Children took part in guided zoo safaris, bird nest-making workshops, wildlife-themed crafts, and interactive sessions with experts from fields such as forestry, veterinary sciences, and environmental arts.
A major highlight of the camp was the “Zoo Keeper for a Day” activity, where young participants explored behind-the-scenes zoo areas, animal shelters, and non-public zones to understand daily zoo operations. Other experiential learning activities included jungle drives and bird-watching trails at Gorewada Nature Park, along with creative sessions where students designed their own model zoo exhibits.
At the conclusion of the camp, each child received a certificate and a gift in recognition of their participation and learning.
