In a city-wide traffic enforcement drive on Maharashtra Day, the Nagpur Traffic Police penalised 3,458 motorists for various violations of the Motor Vehicles Act. A total of Rs 3.59 lakh was collected in fines during the crackdown.
The action was part of a special initiative led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Archit Chandak, aimed at reinforcing road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic norms. The violations included driving without helmets, wrong-side driving, signal jumping, and failure to carry valid documents.
The operation was carried out across major traffic zones in the city, with officers instructed to take strict action against rule violators.
Authorities have urged all road users to strictly follow traffic regulations and carry essential documents such as driving license, vehicle registration, insurance, and PUC certificate at all times.
Nagpur Traffic Police stated that similar drives will continue in the coming days to curb reckless driving and promote road discipline.
