Rural SP ranked 2nd in CM’s 100-day target initiative; Nagpur CP misses out
Maharashtra Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis had set a 100-day target for each government department to achieve specific goals after he assumed charge of the Mahayuti government in December 2024. Following the deadline, CM Fadnavis announced the results on May 1. While the office of the Nagpur rural Superintendent of Police (SP) secured the second rank with 80 out of 100 points, the Nagpur Commissioner’s office failed to make it to the list under the Home Minister’s objective to expedite administrative efficiency.
In the Police Commissioner category, Mira-Bhayandar, Thane, and Mumbai Railways bagged the first, second, and third ranks respectively. In the SP category, Palghar emerged on top with 90.29 points, followed by Nagpur and Gadchiroli, which shared the second position with 80 points each. Jalgaon (65.71) and Solapur (64) followed.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, May 2, Dr. Dilip Bhujbal, Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Nagpur Zone, credited the hard work and dedication of Nagpur rural officials and personnel for this administrative success.
“The assessment, carried out by the Quality Council of India, evaluated parameters such as website maintenance, cleanliness, grievance redressal, administrative facilities, workplace improvements, use of Artificial Intelligence, and others. The thorough efforts by SP Harsh Poddar and the entire Nagpur rural police department were crucial in achieving this success,” he said.
Discussing how Nagpur rural police are leveraging AI to improve efficiency, IG Bhujbal added, “Police personnel are equipped with MARVEL and Crime OS AI systems and are using them effectively to crack crimes in the district. Every police station has one sub-inspector and one head constable undergoing training. MARVEL includes tools like ChatBot, CDR, IPDR, TDR, and video analysis. Additionally, Crime OS assists in scrutinizing FIRs, data analysis, and providing concise briefs.”
Dr. Bhujbal also highlighted Nagpur rural police’s initiative to reduce road accidents in collaboration with the SaveLIFE Foundation. “Following the success achieved by Nagpur rural police in reducing road accidents, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways selected them for a pilot project. SP Poddar delivered the keynote address at the National Brainstorming Seminar on Road Safety Police 2025 on May 1,” he mentioned.
Nagpur also received accolades in other categories, with the Municipal Council Chief Operating Officer (CEO) scoring 79.43 out of 100 points to secure the second rank, and the Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur scoring 62.29 to secure third position.
