Nagpur: The Beltarodi Police on Sunday swiftly cracked a kidnapping case on Saturday by rescuing a five-year-old girl within an hour of her abduction and apprehending the accused who had demanded a ransom of Rs 20,000.
The incident came to light when a 30-year-old woman from the Hingna area lodged a complaint stating that her minor daughter had been kidnapped from Wardha Road. The accused, identified as Surya alias Milind Baghel (29), a resident of Butibori, allegedly abducted the child and contacted the mother to demand a ransom of Rs 20,000 for her safe release. He asked her to bring the money to Butibori.
Acting swiftly, a team from the Beltarodi Police Station, led by PI Mukund Kawade, launched an immediate investigation. Within an hour, the team traced the accused to Butibori, took him into custody, and safely rescued the child.
Police officials confirmed that Baghel has a criminal background and multiple offences, including murder, registered against him. His name also appears in various entries on crime surveillance databases.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal and Deputy Commissioner of Police Rashmita Rao. The prompt and coordinated action by the Beltarodi police ensured the girl’s safe recovery and prevented a possible tragedy.
