A 25-year-old woman, identified as Dr. Kshipra, a final-year MBBS student, was detained on Saturday morning after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, colliding with a two-wheeler, and creating a scene at Ram Cooler Square within the Kotwali police station limits.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. when Dr. Kshipra’s car hit a two-wheeler ridden by Nikhilesh Thakre. When confronted about the damage, the woman reportedly became aggressive, hurled verbal abuses, and insisted that her vehicle had suffered more harm. She then stepped out of the car, allegedly caused a commotion, and demanded compensation from the two-wheeler rider.
Eyewitnesses claim she also threatened bystanders who tried to calm the situation. The episode attracted a crowd and was captured on mobile phones, with videos quickly going viral on social media platforms.
Police personnel from the Kotwali station reached the spot shortly after receiving a report. They attempted to defuse the situation, but the accused reportedly refused to cooperate and engaged in a heated exchange with the officers. She was eventually taken into custody and subjected to a medical examination, which confirmed alcohol consumption.
Kotwali Police Inspector Bharat Karhade stated that a case has been filed under Section 279 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is underway.
