A wave of shock swept across the Zero Mile area on Monday night, May 5, after the body of an unidentified 60-year-old woman was discovered under suspicious circumstances. The woman, believed to be a nomad, was found in a semi-nude state, raising suspicion of sexual assault. However, police officials stated that confirmation will come only after the post-mortem report.
The Sitabuldi Police received information about the incident around 9:30 pm and reached the spot promptly. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the woman had been murdered.
“The body of a 60-year-old woman was found near Zero Mile around 9:30 pm. Due to the condition in which the body was discovered, there is suspicion of sexual assault, but it can only be confirmed after the post-mortem,” said Police Inspector Vitthalsingh Rajput of Sitabuldi Police Station.
A case of murder has been registered, and the body has been sent to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for autopsy. Police are making efforts to ascertain the woman’s identity and have initiated a thorough investigation.
Sitabuldi Police are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning locals to trace possible suspects. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
