Nagpur: A 40-year-old man was apprehended at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur, after two live cartridges were found in his luggage during routine baggage screening.
The incident took place around 5:40 am on May 6, 2025, when CISF officer Pawan Kumar Upadhyay, deployed at the Nagpur-Mumbai Indigo Flight 6E 5002 screening counter, detected suspicious objects through the scanner. A detailed inspection of the bag revealed one cartridge concealed inside a shaving kit and another hidden in a pair of green trousers.
The accused, identified as Irfan Khan Sardar Khan, a resident of Motha Tajbagh, near Buland Gate in Sakkardara, was immediately detained. During questioning, he failed to produce any license or valid documentation for the ammunition.
Following a complaint by CISF personnel, Sonegaon Police registered a case against Irfan under Section 5/25 of the Arms Act. He was taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
