Nagpur: A deeply disturbing incident at Mayo Hospital has sparked widespread anger among medical interns after a female intern was allegedly subjected to an obscene act by a sanitation worker inside a hospital lift on Monday morning.
The accused has been identified as 52-year-old Manohar Natthulal Samudre, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, Mankapur. According to hospital sources, the incident occurred around 10:30 am when the intern, who recently completed her medical degree and is undergoing internship, boarded a lift near the Operation Theatre in the Surgical Complex to reach Ward No. 36 on the second floor.
Samudre, who was carrying some belongings, was headed to the fourth floor. During the lift ride, he allegedly removed his clothing and performed an obscene act in front of the intern. Startled and distressed, the intern exited the lift as soon as the doors opened on the second floor and ran down the stairs. She then recounted the incident to fellow interns.
