In the wake of India’s successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which reportedly targeted and destroyed terrorist camps across the border, security forces across the country, including Maharashtra, have been placed on high alert.
Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, in a high-level video conference held on Wednesday, instructed all Police Unit Commanders and District Collectors to remain vigilant and reinforce safety measures across their respective jurisdictions. She called for intensified patrolling and enhanced security, particularly in high-footfall and sensitive areas, to prevent any untoward incidents.
Responding swiftly to the directive, Nagpur Police have bolstered security at several strategic and symbolic sites, including the RSS Headquarters in Mahal, Hedgewar Bhavan in Reshimbagh, and Deekshabhoomi. Armed personnel have been deployed around-the-clock to ensure peace and public safety.
Security has also been tightened in sensitive localities such as Nandanvan, Pachpaoli, Gittikhadan, Yashodhara Nagar, Jaripatka, and Kamptee, with Beat Marshals maintaining a constant watch. Additionally, plainclothes officers have been stationed in busy marketplaces and shopping areas to monitor suspicious activity discreetly.
In parallel, cyber police units are monitoring social media platforms to counter misinformation and curb the spread of fake news. Officials confirmed that action has already been initiated against individuals found spreading rumours, including arrests in some cases.
Chief Secretary Saunik emphasized the need for rapid response and proactive measures from law enforcement agencies to ensure public confidence and security in the current national context.
