Maharashtra is set to strengthen its global reputation in boiler manufacturing with the announcement of a state-of-the-art welding institute in Nagpur, aimed at generating employment and producing a skilled workforce for the industry.
Akash Fundkar, Minister of Labour, made the announcement during the inauguration of the Weld Connect Conferenceheld at Center Point Hotel on Sunday. Highlighting the state’s industrial strength, Fundkar noted, “Maharashtra has earned global recognition in boiler manufacturing, but there is a pressing need to develop skilled manpower to sustain and grow this industry.”
Prominent figures in attendance included Minister of State Adv Ashish Jaiswal; Dhawal Antapurkar, Director of the Directorate of Steam Boilers; Deputy Director S.G. Chaudhari; Sanjay Marudkar, Director of MAHAGENCO; and Bhanu Rajgopalan, Managing Director of Orangebeak Technologies.
In his remarks, Adv Jaiswal assured that the upcoming institute will receive adequate funding. He emphasized the untapped potential of the welding profession in the Vidarbha region, stating, “Very few youngsters from this region choose welding as a career, despite its vast employment potential. The institute will encourage youth to consider this profession, thereby addressing both skill development and unemployment.”
Dhawal Antapurkar discussed the opportunities and challenges within the boiler manufacturing sector, while Sanjay Marudkar stressed the crucial need for skilled technicians to ensure the proper maintenance of boilers.
S.G. Chaudhari delivered the introductory address and extended the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
