Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Unit 4 team of the Nagpur Crime Branch busted a drug racket operating from a flat in Hudkeshwar and seized 456 grams of Mephedrone (MD) worth Rs 45.6 lakh on Wednesday night. Two individuals were apprehended during the late-night operation, while a third accused remains absconding.
The raid was conducted between 7:40 pm and 10:15 pm at Flat No. 202 in Anand Sai Residency, Khobragade Layout, Sarvashri Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station.
The arrested accused have been identified as Dheeraj Shyam Malik (31), a resident of Gangabai Ghat, Sleeper Colony, near Ashok Bouddh Vihar, under Lakadganj Police Station. He is also wanted in a previous NDPS case (Crime No. 424/2024) registered at Kotwali Police Station. Cops also arrested Shubham Parsaram Pendor (28), a resident of Gangabai Ghat, Shivajinagar, near Agni Mata Mandir.
A third suspect, Arpit Uke, a resident of Rani Durgavati Chowk, is currently on the run.
During the search, officials recovered the following items:
• 456 grams of MD drug worth Rs 45,60,000
• Cash amounting to Rs 10,800
• A digital weighing scale worth Rs 500
• Two mobile phones valued at Rs 20,000
• Zip-lock pouches, a steel spoon
• A Tata Nexon car worth Rs 8 lakh
• A Honda Activa moped worth Rs 50,000
The total value of the seized items stands at Rs 54,41,330.
The raid was carried out under the supervision of PO Abhishek Shaniware of Crime Branch Unit 4. In strict compliance with the NDPS Act, the flat and accused were searched in the presence of two independent witnesses. Following medical examination, the accused were handed over to Hudkeshwar Police for further legal action.
Police have registered an offence under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act. A manhunt is underway to trace the absconding accused.
