A Milestone in Medical Governance: SMHRC Now an Approved Institution Under IT Act
Shalinitai Meghe Hospital & Research Centre, Wanadongri, the 1020-bedded multi-super speciality hospital, has been granted the prestigious certification under Section 17(2)(b) of the Income Tax Act by the Income Tax Department, following a successful audit conducted by the office of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax. This development marks an important milestone for the institution, reinforcing its credibility and strong commitment to transparency in financial and administrative processes.
With this certification, the hospital is now recognized as an approved institution for medical treatment under the said section. Consequently, any amount paid by an employer directly to Shalinitai Meghe Hospital for the medical treatment of an employee or their dependent family members will now be exempt from Income Tax in the hands of the employee. To avail this exemption, the employee must submit two documents with their return of income: a certificate from the hospital specifying the disease or ailment treated and a receipt showing the amount paid. It also affirms the hospital’s adherence to statutory compliance, financial discipline, and the highest standards of governance.
CA Manish, Finance Officer- SMHRC, expressed his satisfaction on receiving this certification and highlighted the rigorous documentation and compliance processes required during the audit. He acknowledged the collective efforts of the team and thanked all involved for their dedication.
