The Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) has officially announced the launch of the first-ever Vidarbha Pro T20 League (VPTL), scheduled to be held from June 5 to 15, 2025. All matches will be played at the state-of-the-art VCA Stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur, marking a major milestone in the region’s cricket development.
Speaking on the occasion, Prashant Vaidya, Chairman of the VPTL Governing Council, described the league as a “historic moment” for Vidarbha cricket. He emphasized that the tournament aims to offer local players greater exposure and opportunities for recognition. “We are committed to delivering a world-class tournament that celebrates and nurtures homegrown talent,” he stated.
The league has roped in notable cricket figures as ambassadors to boost its visibility. India’s fast bowler and Vidarbha’s own Umesh Yadav has taken on the role of League Ambassador. Sharing his excitement, he said, “Vidarbha has always had immense cricketing potential. This league will provide young players the platform to perform and be noticed. I’m eager to see the new stars emerge.”
Joining him is former India women’s team captain and legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami, who will be promoting the women’s segment of the league. “Launching a league like this is a forward-thinking step. It’s not just about the competition—it’s about building a future for the sport in the region. I’m honored to be part of this inspiring initiative,” Goswami remarked.
The Vidarbha Pro T20 League promises to be more than just a cricket tournament—it aims to serve as a springboard for emerging talent and a celebration of Vidarbha’s growing stature in Indian cricket.
