Acting on a complaint regarding the violation of the Plain Copier Paper (Quality Control) Order, 2020 [S.O. 2149(E), dated 5th June 2020], the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Nagpur Branch Office, conducted an enforcement raid onthe premises of M/s. Anra Enterprises, located at N.I.T Quarter No-43, Lane No.6, Ridge Road, Rajkamal Square, Vishwakarma Nagar, Nagpur, Maharashtra – 440027.
During the inspection, BIS officials discovered that M/s. Anra Enterprises was in possession of 263 unlicensed packetsof plain copier paper (each containing 100 sheets), which were found being offered for sale without the mandatory Standard Mark. This is a clear violation of the provisions outlined under the Plain Copier Paper (Quality Control) Order, 2020.
Under Section 17 of the BIS Act, 2016, it is prohibited to manufacture, import, distribute, sell, store, or exhibit for sale any product covered under mandatory certification without a valid BIS license and the applicable Standard Mark. Violation of this provision is a punishable offence under the law.
