In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Social Security Branch (SSB) of Nagpur Police apprehended four individuals in possession of 17.54 kilograms of ganja near Gate No. 1 on the southern side of Nagpur Central Railway Station late Tuesday night. The seized contraband is valued at ₹3.97 lakh.
The action was carried out under the jurisdiction of Sitabuldi Police Station between 8:15 PM on May 20 and 1:40 AM on May 21 during routine patrolling.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
• Bishwanath Chaturbhuj Sahu (25), a resident of Pannokimal village, Subarnapur district, Odisha
• Simadri Gariba Kalsaye (23), a native of Balangir district, Odisha
• Vishwajeet Vinod Chaudhary (23), from Panvel, Navi Mumbai
• Suraj Mehilal Navik (25), also from Panvel, Raigad district
Along with the ganja, the police also recovered three mobile phones and ₹1,700 in cash. The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹3,97,500.
A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 20(b), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act (Crime No. 412/2025) at Sitabuldi Police Station.
The operation was led by PI Omprakash Sontakke, assisted by Head Constables Prakash, Laxman, and Ajay, Police Constables Ashwin Mange, Sameer Sheikh, Kunal Masram, Nitin, and Woman Police Constable Punam Shende.
