The launch of the First-Year Junior College (FYJC) online admission process in Maharashtra faced an unexpected setback on Wednesday, May 21, after the official admission website crashed due to technical issues. The disruption occurred on the very first day of student registration, prompting authorities to halt the process.
The Directorate of Education (Secondary), which oversees the admissions, confirmed that the portal—https://mahafyjcadmissions.in/landing—went offline unexpectedly, leaving students and parents unable to proceed with registrations or submit their preferences.
Following the incident, the department issued a statement assuring students and guardians that a revised schedule for Round 1 of admissions would be released on Thursday, May 22, at 3 p.m., once the technical issues are resolved and the site is relaunched.
“Due to technical issues with the online admission portal, student registration and preference selection could not be completed properly on May 21. In the best interest of students and to ensure a smooth process, a revised schedule will be shared,” the official communication stated.
The initial registration was set to begin on May 21, following a two-day demo period earlier in the week. However, the system failure caused widespread frustration among applicants and their families, many of whom criticized the authorities for not preparing the infrastructure for the expanded statewide rollout.
This marks the first year the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for FYJC has been implemented across all regions in Maharashtra. Previously, the online system was limited to major urban areas including the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune-Pimpri Chinchwad, Nagpur, Nashik, and Amravati.
Officials assured that once the portal is back online, applicants will be notified via email and SMS, and that sufficient time will be provided to complete the registration and preference submission.
Parents and students are advised to monitor the official website and communication channels for updates regarding the revised timeline.
