Mahamuni chaired a meeting of the District Snake-bite Prevention Committee. DHO Dr Rajkumar Gahlod, District Survey Officer Dr Asim Inamdar, Dr Vikrant Chikhale from Daga Hospital, and officials from Forest, Agriculture, and Government Medical Colleges were present.
Stocking of adequate medicines in all government hospitals, PHCs in rural areas, and Rural Hospitals was advised. The caution to be taken in case of snake bite was also issued. This includes Psychological support to the victim, minimal possible movement of the body porting of snake-bite, taking the victim to the nearest hospital where antivenom vaccine is available. The medicine for snake bites is available free of cost. So far as possible, gumboots should be used while working on a farm.
The part of the body affected by a snake bite should not be tightly wrapped, nor should any incision be made. The victim should not be administered any treatment, except by a trained medical practitioner.
