A baby-sitter hired to care for a toddler in Jaripatka has been booked for allegedly stealing gold jewellery, including a diamond ring valued at ₹9 lakh, from her employer’s home.
The incident took place at Govindam Apartment, Plot No. 1101, Kadbi Chowk, under Jaripatka Police Station limits. Complainant Nupur Aniruddha Agrawal (32) had employed the accused, Maria Suryarao Shukla (25), a resident of Vinayak Nagar, Khairi, to look after her 15-month-old child.
According to the police, Agrawal had kept two gold rings—one of them studded with a 1.5-carat diamond—in a drawer inside her bedroom. On May 18, at around 8:25 PM, CCTV footage captured the baby-sitter opening the drawer and taking the rings.
After discovering the theft, Agrawal approached Jaripatka Police Station and lodged a complaint. Based on her statement, a case has been registered against Shukla under Section 306(6) of the BNS.
Police are continuing their investigation and are in the process of recovering the stolen items.
