The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced an 18-member squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against England — the first bilateral series in years without stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Shubman Gill will lead the Indian team as it steps into a transitional phase, with a relatively inexperienced top order aiming to bounce back from recent defeats to Australia and New Zealand.
The month-long away series, part of the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship, begins on June 24, 2025. The five Tests will be held at Headingley (Leeds), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Lord’s (London), Old Trafford (Manchester), and The Oval (London).
The squad features the return of Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur, both eager to leave an impact in English conditions. Rising star Sai Sudharsan has earned his maiden Test call-up.
