In a prompt and efficient action, Beltarodi Police apprehended two siblings who used road rage as a ploy to rob motorists on Nagpur-Wardha Road. The accused—Harsh Dilip Rokde (19) and his brother Yash, residents of Chichbhuvan Slums—allegedly assaulted a Khamla-based businessman and his friend, snatching a gold chain and stealing ₹14,000 in cash late Saturday night.
As per police sources, the incident occurred around 11:30 pm when the victim, Ashish alias Aashu Jethani (35), a resident of Sindhi Colony, Khamla, was travelling to Jamtha for dinner in his Hyundai Verna along with a friend. Near Chichbhuvan, the accused brothers, who were driving an e-rickshaw, dangerously cut off their vehicle.
Jethani stopped his car and got out to question the accused. Instead of a civil exchange, the Rokde brothers reportedly hurled abuses, grabbed him by the collar, and assaulted both men. During the scuffle, they snatched Jethani’s gold chain and took ₹14,000 from the vehicle before attempting to flee.
However, their escape was thwarted as PSI Giri and his team from Beltarodi Police were conducting a nakabandi just 100-150 meters away at Khapark Naka Chowki. Hearing the commotion, the officers rushed to the spot and swiftly detained the intoxicated suspects.
Beltarodi Police Inspector Mukund Kawade informed, “This is a known modus operandi of the accused. They would provoke motorists by dangerously overtaking or blocking their vehicles, then engage in an argument and use the opportunity to rob them. We had already initiated preventive action against the Rokde brothers recently, as they were spotted during night patrols. Several past offences are registered against them.”
