After a flood of complaints about poor supply, dirty water, and endless leaks, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari issued a strict directive: Fix Nagpur’s water crisis—within a month. The result? Orange City Water (OCW) and the NMC’s Water Works Department sprang into action, and the changes are already flowing.
Here’s what’s fixed—and what’s finally working:
🔧 Wanjari Nagar Command (Vinoba Bhave, Santosh Nagar, Kundanlal Gupta Nagar):
Plagued by filthy water during the first 30 minutes of supply, these areas got a 3.5 km pipeline replaced. Now? 2–2.5 hours of clean, uninterrupted water daily.
🔧 Kalamna NASSUPR Command (Ganesh Nagar, Chitrashala Nagar, Annapurna Nagar):
From barely an hour to 2 hours of steady supply after leak repairs in major pipelines and isolating supply lines between water tanks.
🔧 Boriapura Feeder (Golibar Chowk, Kumbharpura):
OCW used smart techniques like sub-zoning and pocketing to bump supply from 2 to 3–4 hours daily.
🔧 Shantinagar’s Ramsumer Baba Nagar:
Low-pressure, dirty water used to be the norm. OCW replaced a 1.5 km pipeline—and now, residents enjoy 2.5–3 hours of clean, high-pressure supply.
The Bottom Line:
Gadkari demanded action—and OCW delivered. Leaks are sealed, pipes replaced, supply boosted. If this pace keeps up, Nagpur’s water crisis might finally see its last drip.
Pressure’s on—and it’s working.
